This design-build project was a
collaborative effort between CNI, G.D. Longwell
Architects, and JUB Engineering. The Hangar facility and
adjacent offices were built for the Panhandle Area
Council and is currently leased to Empire Airlines.
Through the use of a lightweight Vertical Lift Door
System, the hangar can allow entry for up to a 737 and a
smaller aircraft simultaneously. The hangar building has
several skylights and windows to allow employees to work
by natural light and has a maintenance friendly epoxy
coated slip resistant flooring system to help promote a
safe work environment.
The adjacent office building is designed to address
the areas vernacular style by the use of heavy timbers,
stone, multiple roof dormers, and other feature
elements. The office area is set up to use open plan
systems furniture and emphasizes the use of natural
light and ease of interior circulation. |

This project which began during the
summer of 1993, started as a speculative building shell
with finishes only in the common areas. Ultimately the
entire build-out was completed as tenants came on board.
There is a partial lower level, which is 11,000 square
feet, and an upper level which is 9,000 square feet.
There is a 3,800 square foot two-story courtyard
complete with a large radius glass wall facing the
river, a reflecting pond, a glass-sided elevator, and a
large glass roof structure. The exterior is finished
with brick veneer, reflective glass, and concrete tile
roofing. |
